Wet Film Wheel Thickness Gauge

A stainless steel precision gauge to check wet film. A wheel machined with an eccentric central rim calibrated to increasing gap is rolled across the paint. The contact point on the rim indicates the film thickness. 4 standard scales available: 0 to 1000 ~m. Custom range upon request. A special version designed with knurled outer rims for coil coating also available.

Wet Film Thickness Gages

Measuring the film thickness of freshly applied coatings in the wet stage is very important. On one hand, film thickness influences the quality of a product; on the other hand, applying too much coating can be expensive. Depending on the application method, it is advisable to measure wet film thickness. For measuring wet film thickness, BYK-Gardner ofters a comb or step wet film gage.

Wet Film Thickness Gage - Comb Type

The comb is a ruler-shaped gage with two supports at

each of its six sides, having tabs of varying lengths.

• Hexagonal shape made of corrosion resistant stainless steel

Procedure:

• For measuring, push the comb gage perpendicularly into the film using the measuring range that corres ponds to the expected film thickness
• Remove the comb gage from the coating
• The wet film thickness will fall between the clearanceof the shortest tab that is wet and the clearance of the next shortest dry tab
• The plastic comb gage may be used up to 60°C (140°F)
